The Hope of Biblical Foster Care Continues

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Greetings A Door of Hope Family,

I want to give you an update to let you know we continue to provide hope through Christian foster homes for kids in crisis. In fact, we just reached 180 foster homes!

Despite all that is going on with the COVID-19 pandemic, our work continues. Let me explain…

How we do ministry has changed. What we do stays the same.

As always, safety is one of our highest priorities. We are making sure we take care of the safety of our families, our team members, and ourselves.

On the frontline, our licensing specialists and supervisors continue to care for each of our 180 families as they normally would. However, now almost strictly by phone, text, email, and videoconferencing (Facetime and Zoom).

For ourselves, we’re working from home and meeting remotely. We’re finding creative ways to complete tasks that would have required in-home visits. Plus, all this affords us a chance to catch up on a backlog of paperwork to maintain our existing families and add new ones.

We continue to move forward on our goal of adding new Christian foster homes. We’re being adaptive and creative. Instead of canceling Tuesday night’s two orientation classes, Billy Babbino did an excellent job leading it on Zoom. Six families attended!

The next three orientation classes are scheduled for the second half of April. We’re ready to move them online, if needed. Our next scheduled Professional Parenting classes begin May 9. We’re prepared to move them online, as well.

Licensing of new foster homes continues at an excellent pace. In the past two weeks, the state has completed licensing of 7 new homes. We expect several more in the weeks ahead.

Above all, our existing 180 foster families faithfully continue to do the work of Christ-centered foster care ministry minute by minute and day by day. Yet now they face the same challenges all families are facing with children at home from school, while many also have jobs to do from home. Plus, potential financial concerns.

What ways can you help?

  • Pray! For our families, for those considering foster care, for us.
  • Recruit! With virtual orientations please let families know they can still take the first step in foster care.
  • Give! Our need for funding to open new homes and to place children in these homes continues. If you are able, here are three safe ways to give today:
  1. Donate: www.adoorofhope.com/donate
  2. Text to Give: Type HOPE to 302-300-4483 then give any amount
  3. Mail a Check to: A Door of Hope, PO BOX 3164, Pinellas Park, FL 33780

I hope and pray you and your family are staying safe and that our Lord is giving you His peace that passes all understanding (Phil. 4:7) in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you for partnering in ministry with us,

Godly Daniel
