Explore Christian Foster Care

WELCOME TO YOUR GUIDE TO CHRISTIAN FOSTER CARE

We’re here to help you explore foster care. To help you find out if God is calling you into this great adventure. This page is meant to inform, inspire, and answer your primary questions about foster care with a Christian agency like A Door of Hope. Then, if you choose, we’ll guide you through the next steps.

The Need is Great in Our Community

  • Every day children are removed from their homes.

  • Abuse, abandonment and neglect are the main reasons for removal.

  • There is a severe shortage of foster homes to take in these children.

Our Vision…

Our vision, “A Home for Every Child in Crisis,” is made possible through families prayerfully stepping out in faith to provide Hope for these children!

We do this by recruiting, training, licensing, and supporting Christian foster families!

The first step in the formal process is to attend one our next foster parent info sessions.  Every month we host a 90-minute Zoom class and nearly every month several live classes are held in the greater Tampa Bay area. Sign up today!

 COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT FOSTER CARE

  • Your first step to learning more about fostering with zero obligation is attending one of our Information Sessions which are held online and in person. During this session, we will give more insight into what the foster care crisis looks like in our community. We will also help you understand what this calling entails both from a physical/emotional aspect as well as a spiritual aspect.

There is no cost and no obligation – it is simply the first step in your journey to discover more about Biblical foster care.

    1. Complete an interest form on our website.

    2. Attend an info session held on Zoom or in person at churches across the community.

    3. Complete Foster Parent Training classes.

    4. Have a home study and background checks completed.

    5. Become a licensed foster parent and have children placed in your home, preferably within 100 days of your first professional parenting class.

  • In order to become a foster parent with A Door of Hope, you must:

    • Pass local criminal, federal criminal, and abuse registry background screenings (for all adults and children 12 and up in the home).

    • If married, be married for at least one year (pssst! you don’t have to be married to be a foster parent!).

    • Have a desire to live out The Gospel.

  • We know some are not called to foster, but we do believe that as Christians, we have a part in caring for foster children. Here are some ways that you can get involved with A Door of Hope:

Why the Brewers Foster

Mica and Sarah Brewer tell their story about how the Holy Spirit drew them to this ministry. Both relay how God’s plan and purpose are revealed for each child and their parents as the Brewers love and care for each one of them.

Why A Door of Hope?

Why do Jill and Chuck Ammon foster with A Door of Hope? "We want to see revival in our country, and in our state, and in our backyard... thousands of children need a place to call home…a place where they are going to be loved.."

We Support Our Families

For us support is the heartbeat of our ministry. Our families are missionaries in our community. Support is what keeps them going. We believe that God has blessed us as a ministry because of the support that we give our families.

The Need is Great

THE NEED is great in our community for foster homes. Every day kids are being removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. There are not enough homes to take in the kids coming in to care. Be the solution. Your foster care journey begins by attending an info session.
