Church Engagement Specialist - Circuit 5

Location: Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion, & Sumter counties, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Specialist provides comprehensive church development services in support of the organization’s vision, mission, values, strategic plan, goals, and development philosophy. Through relationships and presentation, the Church Engagement Specialist utilizes skills to secure partnerships with churches. The Specialist cooperates with the Executive Director and Development team to develop strategies for enhancing church support by identifying a portfolio of churches for relationship management. This position will share the heart and vision of A Door of Hope with individuals, churches, and church leaders. Successful church development activities will engage people in a deeper level of involvement with the ministry and provide avenues for giving and partnering with A Door of Hope. All A Door of Hope activities are to be conducted in a manner that helps improve ministry effectiveness, achieve development goals and objectives, make disciples in our community, and bring glory to God.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cultivate existing church partner relationships.

  • Work with the Church Engagement team to frequently research and evaluate church giving records, demographics and culture in order to systematically determine the best church prospects for cultivation and solicitation.

  • Work with the Leadership team to set annual goals in order to measure success in all areas.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of a “moves management” system that will enable the effective cultivation and solicitation of specifically segmented churches.

  • Work with the Church Engagement team and other staff to establish and review a menu of options for church orphan care ministry.

  • Refer requests for information to programs staff as appropriate and follow up as needed.

  • Work with the Executive Director to provide continuing education in all matters of church Engagement including effectively sharing our story, hosting churches through Vision Tours, and effectively and creatively acknowledging church gifts/involvement.

  • Proactively seek to engage churches across denominational lines for the purpose of establishing foster care ministry programs.

  • Maintain consistent and accurate records of all communication and activity with churches/church groups in database.

  • Actively participate in speaking engagements in church and church groups.

  • Work with program/development staff to recruit foster & adoptive parents, participate in annual drives, fundraise for orphan care, and seek unique ministry opportunities to change the lives of children.

  • Proactively enlist churches in partnerships that would involve the establishment of partnership agreements.

  • Broaden the base of the organization’s contacts through ongoing networking with other church ministries.

  • Seek out new funding stream opportunities that will allow A Door of Hope to meet budget and fundraising goals.

  • Retaining and managing all church partner relationships.

  • Assisting in all other related duties when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong commitment to the Philosophy and Statement of Faith of A Door of Hope, Inc. 

  • Works with passion, is driven to fulfill the mission of A Door of Hope with integrity as unto the Lord.

  • Able to deliver persuasive oral and written presentations.

  • Ability to engage in big-picture thinking and cultivate creative ideas.

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, and/or development preferred or equivalent work experience required.

  • Minimum two to three years of working in a fundraising/donor development environment with a proven successful track record.

  • Demonstrates creative-thinking skills to create unique and compelling stewardship methods.

  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with an appreciation for details, ability to prioritize, and multi-task.

  • Ability to self-manage.

  • Must be a self-starter, capable of identifying church partner needs/requirements, and a willingness to go the extra mile.

  • Ability to assess need for, develop and implement special projects.

  • Ability to prepare, organize, and structure meetings.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Possess desire to continually educate oneself and grow.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Databases, and Social Media platforms.

  • Must successfully complete a criminal background screening, drug screening, and MVR check.

  • Experience in public speaking, project management, development and PR, budget management, and strategic planning desired.
